Playoff PAC--Year in Review

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Dear PlayoffPAC Supporter:

Thank you for your assistance this past season. Together, we’ve started to change college football for the better. Here is a list of Playoff PAC’s accomplishments in only its first few months:

§         Forced the BCS to spend six-figure sums on new websites, full-time staffers, lobbyists, and public relations consultants, including former Bush White House Press Secretary, Ari Fleischer;

§         Pressured the BCS into allowing each non-BCS conference a vote on the BCS’ governing board for the first time;

§         Filed a legal complaint against the BCS’ Fiesta Bowl for violating state campaign finance laws;

§         Shaped the national debate on college football reform by being featured in ABC News, Associated Press, CBS News, Deseret News, ESPN, FOX Business News, The Hill, Houston Chronicle, NPR, Politico, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, and Yahoo! Sports;

§         Sponsored the first-ever anti-BCS television ad, which aired in Boise, Dallas, and Salt Lake City during the week of the BCS title game; and

§         Promoted anti-BCS legislation sponsored by Congressman Joe Barton (R-TX), which received near-unanimous approval from a congressional subcommittee and is now being considered by a full committee.

We are just getting started. There are ads to be run, storylines to be pushed, and legal complaints to be filed. We have no shortage of ideas. We simply need funding to turn them into reality.

PlayoffPAC will become even more vital this coming year, as the Obama Administration has signaled that it may move forward with an anti-trust investigation and the Utah Attorney General has said he will file a new state-level lawsuit. Momentum is on our side, but we must continue our work. We need all of you to step off of the sideline and support PlayoffPAC today with a generous donation of $10, $25, or $50. Your funds won’t line anyone’s pockets, since we are an all-volunteer non-profit group. Your money will go directly to fighting the BCS on all possible fronts this coming season.

This past year, PlayoffPAC proved it’s an organization worth funding. If we can accomplish this much on a shoestring budget, imagine what we’ll do when our supporters, like you, put some modest funding into the organization. Please give today, and together, we will make the BCS history!

Best,

Matthew T. Sanderson
Co-Founder, PlayoffPAC

P.S. PlayoffPAC is the principal opposition group to the BCS and the only pro-playoff organization to ever hold the BCS’s feet to the fire. Please give today so that we can end the BCS!
